One of the many aspects of farmers markets is getting to know the vendors. These vendors worked long and hard to bring you their best and freshest foods. They also have to nitty-gritty knowledge of the growth and production procedures. By purchasing at local farmers markets, you know your produce is healthy and cannot fresher than that. To help support the goals of local agriculture, you may purchase bags, t-shirts, and tokens;  which are available at the “Information Booths”. 

 

Portland’s Farmers Markets are located at these 5 locations:

Portland State University: Open Saturdays from 8:30 am to 2 pm (March-Oct) or 9:00 am to 2 pm (Nov-Feb.) There are 140 stalls, but over 200 vendors participate at the PSU location. PSU is located in the South Park Blocks between SW Hall & SW Montgomery on the west side of the Willamette River.  A close street address to this market is 1717 SW Park Avenue. *No pets allowed at this location.

Pioneer Courthouse Square: Open Mondays, June 20th to September 26th, 10 am to 2 pm, closed for Labor Day. There is an average of 30 vendors selling baked goods, flowers, berries, and of course, produce. Pioneer Courthouse Square is located between SW Broadway & SW 6th and SW Morrison & SW Yamhill.  A close street address to this market is 700 SW 6th Ave. *No pets allowed*

Shemanski Park: Open Wednesdays, 10 am to 2 pm, May 4th to November 23rd. There are 50 vendors at this location. Located in the South Park Blocks at Shemanski Park between SW Salmon & SW Main. A close street address to this market is 1037 SW Broadway. *No pets allowed*

Northwest: Thursdays, 2 pm to 6 pm, June 2nd to September 29th. This market is smaller, it has about 25 vendors. The market also has bingo every half hour starting at 2:30 pm. Located on the corner of NW 19th Avenue and NW Everett Street.  A close street address to this market is 147 NW 19th Avenue. *Dogs allowed*

King: Open Sundays, 10 am to 2 pm, May 1st to November 20th. This market has 35 vendors on site. Located at NE 7th & Wygant between NE Alberta & NE Prescott . A close street address to this market is 4906 NE 6th Avenue. *Dogs allowed*

Special Information:
Regarding pets: Portland Farmers Markets do not allow dogs or other pets at their two busiest markets – PSU and Shemanski Park. However, pets are welcome at all other markets. All six markets are open to service animals.

On a pre-arranged basis guided tours are given of the markets. Tours will include how food is produced, why it is important to make good food choices, meeting  farmers and artisan food producers from the market community. Cost:
The only cost is what you purchase doing your market shopping. For your convenience, Portland’s Farmer’s Markets do accept debit and credit and SNAP cards, as well as FDNP and WIC vouchers.

Mt Hood Farmers Market: Open Saturdays 10am to 3pm – May 7th thru October 29th 2016. They will also be open during First Fridays, starting May 6- October 28, 5 pm- 8 pm. The market is located at 38600 Proctor Blvd, Sandy, OR 97055. There are entrances on both Proctor Blvd (west bound) and Pioneer Blvd (east bound). “Music, food, fresh produce, art … all locally created!” More information and pictures can be found on their Facebook page.

Gresham Saturday MarketGresham Farmers Market, Gresham Saturday Market, Farmers Markets:  Open Saturdays, mid April through September. The hours of the market are 9 am to 3 pm. Mt. Hood Community College – 26000 SE Stark St. Gresham, OR 97030. Offering fresh flowers, farm fresh vegetables, eggs from pasture raised chickens, fresh or dried herbs and more! You must come by and see for yourself and of course browse the entire market, have some amazing market food and listen to music…. perhaps dance a bit too.

Gresham Farmers Market:  Open Saturdays, May through October from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. The location is in Old Town Gresham, between NW Miller & NW Main and NW 2nd and NW 3rd. A close street address to this market it is 201 N Main Avenue, Gresham, OR 97030.The market is comprised of vegetable and produce farmers, bakers, artists and the like, providing some of the best local fresh produce, meats, cheeses, breads, honey, desserts, flowers, art and hand made crafts.

Troutdale Farmers’ and Artists’ Market:  Open Saturdays, year round. The hours include, 10 am to 2 pm. The market will be closed on extreme weather days, to stay informed check the website the day of for up to date information. Also, look into the First Friday Art Walk, which occurs February through December, 3 pm to 9 pm. Both events are located at the Troutdale Railroad Depot Museum, 473 E. Historic Columbia River Hwy, Troutdale, OR 97060.
