Where is the “Fruit Loop”?

A wonderful day trip from Whispering Woods, the Fruit Loop is a 56-mile scenic drive along Hwy 35 that meanders through the communities, orchards, vineyards, farmlands, and forests of Hood River County.  Hood River itself is along the route.  The journey follows along the scenic Columbia Gorge and the mighty Columbia River. Then back down the Dee Hwy 281 back to Hwy 35.

From Whispering Woods Resort, the closest stop on the Fruit Loop, is the Aubert Fruit Company, 6955 Hwy. 35, Mt. Hood. This location is a 40 mile drive from the resort. Many stops are along Hwy 35 between the Community of Mt Hood and the city of Hood River.

Plan on taking a whole day touring the Fruit Loop and its irresistible offerings of baked goods, fresh fruit, nuts, jams and jellies, berries and award winning wines — and say hello to a few friendly Alpacas while you’re at it.

Maps of the Fruit Loop are available at our resort and the Hood River Visitor’s center off exit 63 on I-84 and at all Fruit Loop locations. You can also pick up a map at the Hood River Country Store, on the south end of the Hood River Valley, on Hwy 35. A digital map can also be found on the Fruit Loop Map site.
